EA is to sell "long demos" before the release date

(1) March 24, 2010 @ 07:46 Watched: 1262 Comments: 2 News | by: gamer
Electronic Arts announced new business model based (together with full game releases and free demos) on distribution of a limited demo versions (so called "long demos").

The long versions will guarantee 3-4 hours of a new game experience for the fairly low price ($10-15). Full version usually costs around $50 so it is a good way to find out whether you need a full version or not.

This way of making extra money reminds the well known "trick" of music industry to release singles before the final release date. Usually the most catchy song is selected and distributed as a single for the half album price. This is a good way to earn money on music fans twice and it seems that EA shares this idea.

The "long demos" will be available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
